Interior Design Program
Designing interior spaces requires a keen eye for detail and a talent for recognizing the importance of aesthetics and function. Protecting the health, safety and welfare of your clients, as well as improving their quality of life and productivity is just part of an interior designer's responsibilities.
Space planning, furniture design and the study of textiles, lighting, colors and fabrics are essential to earning your Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design degree at Southwest University of Visual Arts. Foundation courses in rendering, drafting and color theory prepare you for advanced practical projects in areas such as special needs, environmental and hospitality design, as well as designing a variety of residential and commercial spaces.
In addition to the structured curriculum, guest lecturers, field trips and a senior internship provide a practical view of how your skills will be applied to the interior design profession. Finally, you'll graduate with a portfolio that will demonstrate to prospective employers your creativity and capabilities. At a minimum, you will be prepared for an entry-level position at interior design and architectural firms, and/or in residential and commercial design.
The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interior Design at both the Main Campus in Tucson, AZ and the Branch Campus in Albuquerque, NM are accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) formally FIDER.
